Perseptive Persepolis Quest

Persepolis is a graphic novel about a young girl growing up in 1970s Iran during the Islamic revolution. First of all, I’d like to say how much of a joy it was to read this book with a class, and the students loved it. I created a power point for background information, however, this WebQuest is much more in depth and interactive. The focus is to understand the time and situation in Iran- what life was like in society, schools, religion, civil rights, government, etc. The author of the WebQuest provides three hotlinks on the first page of the quest, that lead to a page each, with a few links to websites and specific questions that need to be answered for each. I find this to be a very well thought out and coherent WebQuest, as opposed to some that were confusing, had closed links, or just had too much room for student choice and error. This assignment is guided nicely, giving the students plenty to look at and plenty to learn, with the questions that need to be answered. They will undoubtedly learn a little bit extra along the way, as this is intended to be a jigsawed group assignment. I love it.
